Privacy Statement
Serve-Ag is serious about its clients’ privacy. The company is committed to the highest standard of protection of personal and business information it holds. Serve-Ag subscribes to the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science Code of Ethics. The new Federal privacy rules that apply to the private sector from mid-December 2001 will not affect its dealings with clients as the company already exceeds the privacy requirements that will be required by law in December 2001.
Serve-Ag holds two types of information. The first type includes individual client accounts and personal details, and the other is information to help the company serve its clients’ businesses better. Any information that a client has given will only be used for the purposes of running the client’s account, or for the delivery of professional services. From time to time, the company may enter into business alliances with other companies, and some client information may be exchanged. No client information will be shared with allied companies without the client’s informed consent. Any information shared will be used strictly for the purposes of supporting a client’s business, and it will be protected in the same way as if it remained within Serve-Ag.
Access to client information is strictly limited to staff with a need to know, and it is only used for the purposes of the business at hand. Staff members have all given a written undertaking to respect client privacy. Information is kept in such a way that unauthorised access is very difficult.
Other than for the purposes allowed for and in the manner described in this policy, Serve-Ag will not release any information about a client to any other parties for any reason. Serve-Ag will not reveal or sell customer lists or addresses, including e-mail addresses, to anybody for any purpose, particularly the purposes of direct advertising.
If there is a requirement for Serve-Ag to pass on to or seek information from a third party, the company will do so only after the client’s permission has been given; for example, a client’s credit application will include consent to contact the client’s nominated referees to establish credit history.
Clients are welcome to ask at any time about how privacy is protected at Serve-Ag, and/or to check any of their client information held for relevance or accuracy.
Relationships built on trust, respect and confidence are of paramount importance to Serve-Ag and its clients. Maintaining privacy is a key part of that relationship.
